Booking & Availability
  • How do I book?
    You can check availability and book directly through our website. If you prefer to enquire first, we respond personally within 24 hours to confirm your dates and answer any questions — you’ll always deal directly with us.
  • What payment is required?
    A 25% deposit secures your stay, with the remaining balance due 6 weeks before arrival.

    A fully refundable security deposit is payable shortly before arrival and returned promptly after departure, subject to the house being left in good order.
  • What if we need to cancel?
    Plans sometimes change. You may cancel for a full refund up to 30 days before arrival. If unexpected circumstances arise, we always aim to work constructively with our guests wherever possible.
The House & Comfort
  • How many guests can Cumbrae House accommodate?
    Six spacious bedrooms sleep up to 10 adults, plus a separate bunk room suitable for 2 children. A super king bedroom and a separate shower room are available on the ground floor for any mobility issues.

    The layout works particularly well for extended family stays, offering generous shared spaces alongside privacy when needed.
  • Are the beds and linens high quality?
    Absolutely. We use premium mattresses, crisp linen bedding, and a choice of pillows in every room to ensure a comfortable, restorative night’s sleep.
  • Is the house suitable for children?
    Yes — we can provide stair gates, highchairs, and a cot on request. Books, games, and outdoor space ensure younger guests feel just as welcome.
  • Do you allow dogs?
    Yes, Cumbrae House is dog-friendly. Trebarwith Strand and beach are dog-welcoming all year round, and the enclosed courtyard offers a safe outdoor space at the house. An outside wash-off area and a dog towel are provided for your convenience. We also have a comprehensive guide on dog-friendly beaches and pubs.   • What makes Cumbrae House special?
    Cumbrae combines comfort with character. Thoughtfully curated artwork and interiors, along with generous proportions, create a house that feels relaxed yet refined. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped for family meals, though excellent local restaurants are also within easy reach.
Location & Lifestyle
  • How far is the beach?
    Just 300 metres — approximately a three-minute walk to Trebarwith Strand, known for its dramatic Atlantic sunsets, surf and seasonal beachfront dining.
  • Are restaurants and shops nearby?
    Two welcoming pubs, a beach café and local shops are within a few minutes’ walk. Tintagel village is around 5 minutes by car for groceries and additional dining options.

    North Cornwall offers Michelin-recommended restaurants, excellent farm shops and relaxed seafood shacks. In addition a private chef can be arranged for any special occasions — all listed in our curated digital guide, shared after booking.
  • What activities are nearby?
    From coastal path walks and surfing to kayaking, paddle boarding and coasteering, there is plenty to enjoy nearby. Historic Tintagel Castle is within easy reach, along with countless scenic coves and countryside drives.

  • Can groceries be delivered before arrival?
    Yes. All major supermarkets deliver to Trebarwith Strand, and deliveries can be scheduled from 4pm on your arrival day. We provide a hamper with essentials on arrival. There is plenty of room food storage, cupboard space, 3 fridges and 1 freezer, wine racks
Practical Details
  • Is there space for everyone to dine together?
    Yes — two large dining tables one inside and one outside comfortably seat up to twelve each. The courtyard and sun deck provide additional outdoor space for relaxed drinks or informal meals.
  • Is the house suitable for cooler stays?
    Very much so — oil central heating allows radiators to heat all rooms, and the efficient wood-burning stove creates a particularly cosy atmosphere in the main living area during autumn and winter stays.
  • Is parking available?
    Yes — free private on-site parking for up to 4–5 cars, particularly valuable during the summer months. An external socket is available for overnight EV charging.
  • What is the check-in process?
    Arrival is via a secure key safe, with detailed instructions and arrival information provided in advance. We ask guests to arrive after 4 pm on the day of arrival.
  • Is the WiFi suitable for remote working?
    Yes — full fibre broadband is installed throughout the house, providing reliable connectivity for streaming and working alike. Alternatively, you could opt for an off-grid stay, and we can turn off the WiFi……
  • Is there storage for surfboards, paddle boards or bikes?
    Yes — the enclosed courtyard offers secure outdoor space. A lock-up in the car park is also available on request.
